Leaning on a Horse Asking for Directions

Leaning On A Horse Asking For Directions is an investigation into visual perception and kinesthetic empathy. An interdisciplinary project that will result in the creation of a  multi-channel stereoscopic 3D (S3D) environment for exhibition, bridging BaGuaZhang martial arts and contemporary dance choreography.

The research to date explores 3-D filmmaking as an agent of kinesthetic empathy for live performance, laying the groundwork for follow-up research in correspondences to “embodied” models of cognition.

The team includes filmmakers Marlene Millar and Philip Szporer, choreographer and dancer Cheng-Chieh Yu,  BaGuaZhang master Jason Tsou,  media artist/scholar Ted Warburton, and designer Peter Melville.
