Wamunzo: in creation (2019)

Distribution/sales: Mouvement Perpétuel

Wamunzo: in creation is a filmic portrait of Montreal artist-choreographer and dancer Zab Maboungou’s new dance work. The film enters a choreographic universe in constant flux, anchored in Maboungou’s dynamic relationship to time, space, and the self. When performing Wamunzo, Maboungou listens, attentive to her internal trajectories and the drummers on stage. Her choreography articulates a constantly transformed rhythmic composition with the musicians. Their rhythms and her vital presence resist imposed time and order, revealing an unspoken life force.
